Steven Paul Dohmen, 47, of Montgomery, pled guilty January 18 in Scott County District Court to attempting to pull a 10-year-old Jordan girl into his motor home last September.

Dohmen was sentenced to 44 months in prison. He must serve two-thirds of the sentence - more than 29 months - behind bars before becoming eligible for supervised release for the balance of the sentence, nearly 15 months.

Judge Thomas McCarthy credited Dohmen for the 130 days he served up to the sentencing and ordered him to pay $792 in restitution and any future therapy costs incurred by the young victim.

McCarthy also recommended Dohmen be sent to a state corrections facility where sex offender treatment programs are available.

In exchange for his guilty plea for the felony, county prosecutors dismissed an additional felony charge of false imprisonment.

The following is from the complaint filed in Scout County Court against Dohmen:

“The girl was walking home near an alley on September 10 when she observed a motor home parked in a gravel lot just south of the alley. A man inside the motor home came out and said, ‘hi” and the girl responded by saying ‘hi.’ The man, later identified as Dohmen, then grabbed the girl and placed his hand over her mouth. The girl began fighting and kicking in an attempt to escape. Dohmen then tried to force the girl into the motor home but she placed both her hands on either side of the doorway to hold herself. Dohmen then tried to lift her up, but she hooked her feet onto the undercarriage of the motor home. Then Dohmen began to lose his grip and the girl escaped, crawling under his legs. The girl ran home and her mother, told what happened, grabbed a cordless phone to call police and went outside, where she saw an older motor home pull away from the alley.

Police reports state her mother got the license plate number from the R-V as Dohmen sped off. Jordan police caught up with him and took Dohmen into custody.

The girl was not injured in the incident.
