Muskies continue hot streak, Orioles win five straight

New Market continues their hot streak and remains undefeated in DRS League play at 13-0. New Prague has won five straight games and has climbed in the standings. Montgomery has been hot as well, winning four of their last five games and has also moved up in the standings.

Wednesday, June 15 Saints 18, Mudcats 11 Cullen Bahn went 4-6 with a home run, double, and 7 RBIs. Jeremy Heitkamp reached base five times in the win. For Prior Lake, Jonathan Houston kept up his blistering pace doubling twice and compiling four hits. Cole Bjorge had two hits and 5 RBIs as well. Derek Karsky got the win for St. Benedict, while Brad Schoenrock took the loss for Prior Lake.

Lakers 2, Bulldogs 1 It was a pitcher’s duel between Union Hill's Hunter Piehl and Faribault's Jack Helgeson. Union Hill would get on the board first, when Jesse Bastyr singled, went to third on a base hit by Nathan Berg and scored on an RBI ground out by Jeff Dietz. That would be all of the damage for Union Hill. Helgeson changed speeds and scattered 5 hits through seven innings of work, before Matt Lane would slam the door shut. Hunter Piehl went eight strong innings scattering 7 hits, letting up 2 runs neither of which were earned. Helgeson helped his cause with 2 hits.

Friday, June 17 Muskies 9, Coyotes 4 Andy Henkemeyer was the winning pitcher for New Market in a rain-shortened game. He was also 3-4 at the plate, including a home run, and had 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Scott Lyden was also 3-4 with an RBI. Cody Pamperin was the losing pitcher for Shakopee, but picked up 7 strikeouts. Alex Johnson was 2-4 with an RBI, and Tyler Sloss was 2-3.

Mallards 4, Aces 3 Robbie Marshall was the winning pitcher for Montgomery, and Ben Lazzari was the losing pitcher for Lonsdale. Johnny Krocak picked up the save. Montgomery was led offensively by Eric Iverson who was 3-4 with an RBI, and Tom Flicek who was 2-4 with 2 runs scored. Lonsdale was led by Jason Kirschman who was 3-4 with a double and run scored. Matt Tschida and Dylon Eisele were both 2-4 and had doubles.

Orioles 12, Warriors 1 After a scoreless first three innings the Orioles jumped out to a lead during the fourth and never slowed down. Dust Steinhoff got the party started by hitting a double off the fence scoring Aaron Kes and Austin Bachman. Then in the fifth inning Ben Buthe, Justin Novak, Bachman and Steinhoff would all collect RBI singles. The Orioles would add five more runs in the sixth and seventh innings. For Veseli the scoring came in the bottom of the seventh when Mike Bartusek hit an RBI single scoring Jordan Chlan. John Solheid and Nolan Hodapp had hits for Veseli. The Orioles leading hitters were Justin Novak and Ben Buthe each with three hits. Dan Novak and Steinhoff collected two hits apiece. Curt Brezina took the loss for Veseli and Joel Zimmerman recorded the win for the Orioles.

Saturday, June 18 Coyotes 3, Lakers 1 Shakopee’s Alex Johnson picked up a complete game win in Faribault, scattering 5 hits and picking up 6 strikeouts as the Coyotes beat the Lakers 3-1. Johnson was also 2-4 at the plate with a double. Alec Pauly was 2-4 with a double, RBI and run scored, and Andy Lazzari was 2-4 with an RBI. For Faribault, Evan Knutson pitched nine complete innings and got the loss, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, and getting 3 strikeouts. Blake Langerud was 2-4 with a double, and Adam Jensen was 1-3 with an RBI.

Sunday, June 19 Bulldogs 10, Aces 2 From the get go, it looked like it would be a long, hot game for both teams. Union Hill got on the board in the first when Bryan Lindner singled, stole second and eventually scored on a base hit by Jesse Bastyr. Lonsdale would answer in the bottom of the first inning, scoring 2 runs, one of which was earned. Daniel Feneis and the Union Hill defense then decided to settle down and let the Bulldog bats go to work. Union Hill scored four in the third with the help of four straight singles by Lindner, Danny Beckius, Adam Gill, and Eric Bisek and some manufacturing of runs. They would tack on two runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the ninth. Lindner, Beckius, Gill, Jeff Dietz and Dave Anderson each had 2 hits in the game. Feneis went the distance scattering 6 hits, and striking out 7. Phil Tisdel started and took the loss for the Aces.

Express 18, Saints 3 Mitch Maurer was the winning pitcher for Elko, and Cullen Bahn was the losing pitcher for St. Benedict. St. Benedict had 10 hits, including Johnny Dittman going 2- 4 with a HR and 2 RBIs. Mitchell Martin and Cullen Bahn had 2 hits each. There was no more information available.
