New Prague Community Band, TCU Jazz band to present concert
The New Prague Community Band, along with director Rush Wagner, will present their first concert performance of 2016.
The Spring Kickoff Concert will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the New Prague High School Auditorium.
The first concert of the year is usually an introduction for the upcoming summer performances, with the introduction of a few of the summer pieces that are within the chosen theme. The theme for this year’s performances is “Color.”
The concert pieces to be performed Sunday include a march by Henry Fillmore titled “Orange Bowl,” a Civil War suite titled “The Blue and the Gray” by Clare Grundman, and “The Silver Quill” by Dale Harpham and Sammy Nestico.
The other highlight of the concert will be a guest performer. This year’s guest performer is the Tri-City United High School Jazz Band directed by Eric Root. Both bands will join together to do a mass performance of “Movie Blockbusters” by Michael Brown.
