Norbert Marxen, 83
Norbert J. “Nubs” Marxen, 83, of New Prague, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Norbert was born in Sand Creek Township, Scott County, on January 29, 1929, a son of Frank and Elizabeth (Seifert) Marxen. He attended Jordan High School and the University of Minnesota. He married Patricia Mulligan on November 25, 1950, at St. John’s Church in Jordan. He worked at Continental Machines in Savage for 20 years, retired from Mala Strana Nursing Home after 20 years and then worked at Rynda Hardware for eight years. Norbert enjoyed bird watching and woodworking. He is survived by his wife; eight children Laura (Greg) Lien, Two Harbors, Gaile Bjerke (and Mark Furth), New Ulm, Beth (Rob) Mahle, Coon Rapids, Joan Marxen, New Prague, Robert Marxen, St. Paul, Ellen (Steve) Veith, Brainerd, James (Katherine) Marxen, New Prague, and Amy (Don) Cheney, Apple Valley; 12 grandchildren Erin, Brian, Emily, Christopher, Jenna, Molly, Sarah, Samantha, Tricia, Josh, Katie and Paul; and three sisters Delores Hansen, Richfield, Lorraine Johnson, Green Bay, WI, and Alice (Wally) Borchert, South Haven. He was preceded in death by a grandson Andrew in infancy; his parents; and siblings Henry Marxen and Marie Busch. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Jordan. Visitation is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
