Norman Fjordbak, 86

Norman E. Fjordbak, 86, of Webster, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at his home.

Born on January 11, 1924, at Storm Lake, IA, he was a son of Bernhard and Emma (Hansen) Fjordbak. Born and raised in Iowa, he attended Truesdale Public Schools and North Central Bible College in Minneapolis. Norman married Betty Lea Bell on September 12, 1945, in Storm Lake. While attending college and since, they were instrumental in working in many church plants and outreach ministries, such as Fremont Tabernacle, People's Church, Minneapolis Gospel Tabernacle, Full Gospel Temple, Jackson Assembly of God, Riverside Assembly of God, Faribault Assembly of God. Spirit of Life Church, Triumphant Life Church, Full Gospel Camp Meeting, Light for the Lost, Alaska, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico MAPS Trip. They led weekly services for 25 years at Mala Strana, Philipp Square and Millpond Apartments. They lived in Minneapolis for 20 years and moved to Webster in 1965. He was a supervisor at Douglas Corporation in Minneapolis for 42 years.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter Glenda (Ron) Mixer, Lonsdale; two grandchildren Rachelle (Michael) Kirkpatrick, Oklahoma City, OK, and Danielle (Joshua) Rudder, Topeka, KS; three great-grandchildren Sabrina and Emma Kirkpatrick and Dominic Rudder; and a brother Roger (Ruth) Fjordbak, Benson.

He was preceded in death by a son Norman Lee Fjordbak; his parents; and siblings Dale, Arnol, Everitt and Willard Fjordbak, and Lorraine Lord.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m., at the Triumphant Life Church in Lonsdale, with Rev. Thomas Byrtus officiating.

Interment will be at the Czech National Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers will be Barry Bell, Loren Shoff, Michael Kirkpatrick, Harold Maisch and Joseph Palma. Honorary casket bearers will be Joshua Rudder and Donald Goble.

Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements are with the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
