NPHS alum wins award

 

Eugen Kavan, a 2008 graduate of New Prague High School, recently won the 2013 Personal Achievement Award from Lifeworks. Kavan, the son of Jerry and Barb Kavan of New Prague, has been associated with Lifeworks since 2008 when he moved to Mankato.
The Personal Achievement Award is an annual award presented by Lifeworks. The award honors an individual who is served by Lifeworks who has made considerable effort on or off the job to reach out to others, learn new skills, or grow socially, professionally or emotionally. There were 27 individuals nominated for the award this year. Kavan received the award during a ceremony on Tuesday, April 21, at The Depot in Minneapolis. Nearly 1,000 people attended the ceremony.
Lifeworks supports adults with disabilities in the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Mankato communities. Lifeworks’ mission is to serve the community and people with disabilities as everyone lives and works together.
Kavan works part time at Best Buy, Buffalo Wild Wings and McDonald’s in Mankato. He enjoys participating in the Special Olympics.
