NPHS graduation to be held Friday evening

New Prague High School will hold its annual commencement exercises Friday, May 26, beginning at 7 p.m. The ceremony is scheduled to be held at Trojan Stadium, north of the high school, along 12th Street NE, weather permitting. There are 313 students scheduled to receive their diplomas.

Last year’s ceremony was the first one to be held outside. Superintendent Tim Dittberner said it will be decided by late Friday morning if this year’s ceremony needs to be relocated to the school gym due to the weather.

Transportation will be provided for the elderly and disabled from the Community Center parking lot to the stadium bleachers, beginning at 6 p.m. and continuing until 7 p.m.

The ceremony This year’s class motto is “If you want to go places you’ve never gone, you must be willing to do things you’ve never done.” Class members have chosen a white chrysanthemum as the class flower. Class colors are white and gold.

Members of the graduating class will enter the stadium to the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance,” played by the New Prague High School Band. Once students have entered the stadium, the band will play the National Anthem.

After welcoming remarks from Superintendent Tim Dittberner, the New Prague High School Choir, directed by Ryan Uttech, will perform the class song, “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers.
