NPHS prepares for Homecoming
New Prague High School is busy making preparations for its annual Homecoming Week, which will be held Monday through Saturday, Sept. 23 through 28.
The celebration will include Dress-up days, a powder puff football game and dodgeball tournament, pepfest, royalty coronation and a parade. The two biggest events are the football game Friday, Sept. 27, when the Trojans host Chanhassen, and the dance, to be held Saturday evening, Sept. 28, in the high school gym. Other Saturday activities include the Brain Power Walk/Run, sponsored by the New Prague Education Foundation, at 8:30 a.m. at Trojan Field, and a Belgian Waffle Breakfast at the high school cafeteria beginning at 8:30 a.m.
With the opponent for this year’s football game being the Chanhassen Storm, the homecoming motto is “This just in... STORM has been cancelled.”
Five senior boys and five senior girls have been nominated to the Royal Court for homecoming week. King candidates are JT Butler, Austin Kottke, Seth Kriha, Jordan Lein and Travis Wick. Queen candidates are Ellie Bartyzal, Melanie Clausen, Alyssa Parsons, Marrea Peters and Christine Simon.

The schedule of events for the week include:
Monday, Sept. 23
• Class Color Day: Freshmen wear puce (red), Sophomores chartreuse (yellow), Juniors lavender, Seniors black and Staff blue.
• The Powder Puff football game, a flag football game between junior and senior girls, will be held at Trojan Field beginning at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 24
• Rise & Shine Day
• A dodgeball tournament will be held in the school gyms starting at 7 p.m.
• Home athletic events include boys soccer vs. Chanhassen at 3:30 p.m., boys and girls cross country - the New Prague Invitational at Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park at 4 p.m., girls tennis against Red Wing at 4:30 p.m. and girls soccer vs. Chanhassen at 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 25
• Denim Day
• Float building will take place at the New Prague Bus Garage, across from the middle school on Seventh St. NE, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 26
• Nerd Day
• The volleyball team will host Chanhassen at 7 p.m. at the high school gym
Friday, Sept. 27
• School Spirit Day
• A pepfest and coronation will be held in the high school gym beginning at 11:10 a.m.
• Parade down Main Street at 1 p.m. (route ends at Kubes Furniture)
• The homecoming football game between the New Prague Trojans and Chanhassen Storm begins at 7 p.m. at Trojan Field.
Saturday, Sept. 28
• The Brain Power Walk, a one- and two-mile walk/run sponsored by the New Prague Education Foundation, begins at 8:30 a.m. at Trojan Field.
• A Belgian Waffle Breakfast, with Dad’s Belgian Waffles, will be held at the high school cafeteria from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Proceeds go to the NPHS Trojan Fund.
• The annual Homecoming Dance will be held in the high school gym from 8 to 11:30 p.m.
