NPHS student hurt in semi-car crash

A New Prague High School student from Lonsdale was injured Monday morning in a car-semi crash.
A statement released from New Prague Area Schools said Tyler Montanye, a senior at the school, was hurt in the crash. Tyler’s mother, Mandy, told school officials that he sustained a broken leg and head trauma, and was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. A hospital spokesperson said he was in critical condition as of early Monday afternoon.
Montanye is a captain and one of the top players on the New Prague Trojan football team, scoring two touchdowns in Friday’s win over Rochester John Marshall. He is also a member of the Trojan wrestling team and was part of the royal court during last week’s Homecoming festivities.
“The football team, students and staff were provided support throughout the day from our New Prague High School and District Guidance staff,” said superintendent Tim Dittberner in a statement early Monday afternoon. “This support will also be made available in the days to come for our students and staff.”
