The Orioles stand alone
The New Prague Orioles are the final Dakota-Rice-Scott and Region 3C team remaining in the Minnesota Class C Amateur Baseball Tournament as it heads into its third and final weekend.
New Prague won its second-round game 12-1 over Plato, but the other three teams from the DRS/Region 3C lost their games over the weekend. On Saturday Union Hill fell to Fergus Falls 9-1 and St. Benedict lost to Belle Plaine 4-1. On Sunday, New Market took a 2-0 lead, but gave up four runs over the final four innings in a 4-2 loss.
New Prague will take on Jordan at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, in Delano in the third round of the single-elimination tournament. Quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 1, with the championship game to be played at noon on Monday, Sept. 2 (Labor Day) in Maple Lake.
