Parade cancelled; Treelighting and fireworks still on

Due to extremely cold weather, the New Prague Parade of Lights scheduled for tonight (Friday) has been cancelled. However, the Holiday Celebration in the Park, with a treelighting and fireworks in Memorial Park, will be held, beginning at 7:15 p.m.

Kristy Mach, executive director of the New Prague Chamber of Commerce, said after consulting with the New Prague Police Department, the Chamber decided to cancel the parade for the safety of those who would have been riding or walking in the parade or watching from along the street. Temperatures are expected to be in the low single digits, with sub-zero windchills.
