Primary election is today

The Primary Election in Minnesota is today (Tuesday, Aug. 10).

Local races on this year's primary ballot include:

Scott County District 1 Commissioner: incumbent Joe Wagner faces challenges from Joe Thill and Gerald Kucera

Le Sueur County Recorder: Sharon Budin, who was appointed to the position earlier this year after the retirement of Dave Sexe, faces challenges from Julie Wagner and Russ Ehlers.

Rice County SWCD District 5 Commissioner: Dale Neirby, Nancy Gruchow and Scott Donkers are seeking an open seat representing the Faribault area. SWCD commissioners represent individual districts, but are elected with a county-wide vote.

Minnesota House of Representatives District 35B: incumbent and Republican endorsed Mark Buesgens (R-Jordan) is facing a challenge from former State Rep. Tom Rees (R-Lakeville) for the Republican nomination for the district representing Central Scott County.

First Judicial District: Incumbent Judge Timothy Blakely is being challenged by Larry Clark and Steven Baker.

Polling places

Both New Prague precincts will vote at the Central Education Campus gym. Voters should enter the horseshoe parking lot on the west side of the building, entering off of First Ave. NW. Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Other polling places in the area are:

Le Sueur County

Derrynane Township will vote at the Derrynane Town Hall, 31225 249th Lane.

Lanesburgh Township will vote at the Lanesburgh Town Hall, 31498 State Hwy. 13 in rural New Prague.

Heidelberg: Ballots for the City of Heidelberg were mailed to all registered voters. They should be returned to the Le Sueur County Auditor's office at 88 Park Ave. S., Le Center, MN 56057. Ballots that were not mailed should be brought to the Le Sueur County Auditor's office in Le Center on election day. Also, voters who are not registered can do so on Election Day and receive a ballot at the auditor's office in Le Center.

Scott County

Belle Plaine Township will vote at the Belle Plaine Town Hall, 25130 Hickory Blvd.

Helena Township will vote at the New Prague Emergency Services Building, 505 Fifth Ave. NW

Cedar Lake Township will vote at the St. Patrick Social Hall, 24425 Old Hwy 13 Blvd.

New Market Township will vote at the New Market Town Hall, 8950 230th St.

Elko New Market residents will vote at the Elko New Market City Hall, 601 Main St.

Rice County

Webster Township residents will vote at the Webster Town Hall, 4020 Delano Ave.

Wheatland Township residents will vote at the Wheatland Town Hall 9788 50th St. W in Veseli.

Lonsdale city residents will vote at the Lonsdale City Hall 415 Central Street W.
