Rain washes out four DRS games

The rain washed out much of Sunday’s schedule in the Dakota-Rice-Scott Baseball League. The only game to be played was in Elko, where the Express defeated St. Patrick 10-2.

New Market, Prior Lake and St. Benedict continue to lead their respective divisions, with St. Patrick a game back in the White and Union Hill trailing by one in the Blue.

Mallards 4, Coyotes 2 Montgomery scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 4-2 win over Shakopee Wednesday, May 28, in Montgomery. John Krocak went 3 for-5 with a double and Tom Flicek had two hits and an RBI. Other hits were by Tyler Bednar, Eric Iverson, Ryan Iverson, Steve Rosier, Robbie Marschall and Brad Flicek. Tom Flicek went seven innings and allowed two runs and six hits. Brad Flicek pitched two innings of relief for the win, with four strikeouts. Andy Lazzari took the loss for Shakopee.

Mudcats 7, Irish 5 St. Patrick led 5-1 in this game, but couldn’t hold on as the Mudcats scored six unanswered runs for the win. For the Irish, Wade Schuknecht went 4-for-5 and scored three runs, Matt Ambroz and Seth Ambroz both had two hits and an RBI. Ben Morrison took the win for Prior Lake while Bill Dunker was tagged with the loss.

Laker 6, Orioles 0 Faribault shut out New Prague 6-0 in a game played Wednesday, May 28. No information was submitted for this game.

Bulldogs 15,Warriors 5 Union Hill defeated Veseli 15-5 Friday, May 30. Neither team submitted information.

Mallards 10, Coyotes 0 Robbie Marschall pitched seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits and striking out five as Montgomery beat Shakopee 10-0. Eric Iverson went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and two doubles for Montgomery, while Mike Flicek, John Krocak, Robbie D’Amato and Mike Kocina also had multiple hits for the Mallards. Jordan Triestram took the loss for Shakopee.

Irish 12, Sox 7 St. Patrick scored eight runs in the first three innings on their way to a 12-7 win over Webster Saturday, May 31, at Bonin Field in St. Patrick. Josh Simon was the winning pitcher, while Weiland took the loss for the Sox. For Webster, J. Nelson went 3-for-4 with a home run, while Sather and Nielsen both had two hits, including home runs, and Marcus Pleiss and Weiland both had two hits. Wade Schuknecht went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored, Matt Ambroz went 2-for-3 and had two RBIs, Seth Ambroz had a double and two RBIs and Simon went 2-for 5.

Saints 3, Aces 1 Scott Eischens went 2-for-3 and Jeremy Heitkamp pitched a complete game, striking out seven and allowing just five hits, as St. Benedict defeated Lonsdale 3-1. Eischens doubled home a run in the first. An Andrew Huss sacrifice fly and Wade Olsen's double made it 3-0 in the third. The Aces pushed across their run in the sixth as Jason Kirschmann doubled home Kevin Kalina. Kalina and Eischens were the only players with two hits. Garrett Mosselle went the distance for Lonsdale.

Express 10, Irish 2 Seth Ambroz had a two-run homer for St. Patrick, but that was all the Irish could muster as they fell to Elko 10-2. Glenn Parker was the winning pitcher for Elko, with Joel Klinkhammer getting a save. Ben Doerr took the loss for the Irish.
