Ralph Bisek, 86

Ralph W. Bisek, age 86, of New Prague died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, August 7, 2017, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center. Ralph was born January 20, 1931, in New Prague to William C. and Adeline A. (Sticha) Bisek.

He grew up in the Webster/Veseli area and attended Most Holy Trinity Parochial School and graduated from New Prague High School. He attended St. John’s University for 1 year before entering the US Army and serving in the Korean War.

Following military service, he married Gladys Kes on June 6, 1953, in New Prague. Ralph worked first for the Le Sueur County Highway Department, then as a deputy for the county, and finally worked for 28 years in sales for various car dealerships.

He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Faribault Eagles, and the Knights of Columbus. Additionally, he helped to start the New Prague ambulance service, served on the Czech National Cemetery Board, and was one of the original members of the New Prague Military Honor Guard, on which he proudly served for over 50 years. The highlight of Ralph’s life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their events but he also enjoyed golf, ice fishing, and playing cards.

Ralph is survived by his children, Mark (Chris) Bisek of Montgomery, Alan (Jeanne) Bisek of New Prague, Jean Marie (Mike) Pesta of Montgomery; sister, Shorty Dietz of Montgomery; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded by his wife, Gladys, on March 19, 2017; parents; brother-in-law, Lee Dietz.

Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, August 10, 2017, at 10 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Visitation took place at Bruzek Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4- 7 PM and on Thursday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM. Burial after Mass occurred at Czech National Cemetery where military honors were conducted. Lunch followed at the Park Ballroom.
