Ready, set, Dozinky!

New Prague will hold its 26th Annual Dozinky Festival, a celebration of the community's ethnic and agricultural heritage, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sept. 18.

Friday evening's activities include Cruise Night and a street dance on the city's Main Street and Movie Night at the Memorial Park Baseball Field. On Saturday, Main Street will be filled with music, food booths and activities throughout the day and the Parade of Farm Pride at noon. Allen and Ginny Mahowald will be the grand marshals for this year's parade.

New this year, the Czech Heritage Club will crown its Junior Royalty during a ceremony at 10 a.m. That will take place in front of the Czech Village, between the former McMahon Drug and Dr. Greg Dvorak Dental Office.

Other events include an alumni softball and volleyball tournament, variety show and a number of musical performances at several stages along the Main Street area.

Highway 13/19 through New Prague will be closed from County Road 27 on the east to Highway 21 on the west beginning Friday afternoon and continuing through Sunday morning.
