Reed family plants a garden at Mala Strana

Kent Reed of Elko New Market and his family recently made a donation to Mala Strana Health Care Campus in New Prague bloom in the form of a garden area. The gazebo and raised flower garden are in honor of Kent's mom, Ione Reed, a resident at Mala Strana, and his late father, Dave Reed.

Located in Mala Strana's courtyard, Kent explained the garden area is something residents of the health care facility, their families and visitors can enjoy.

The Reed family found out that Dave, who died in November, had a sizeable life insurance policy. He had been in the Merchant Marines and the Veteran Administration. The family decided to allocate funds toward the garden.

Work for the garden space was done mostly in the spring with a brief dedication held in August.
