Region 3C Sunday results, draft picks, state tourney pairings

New Market and Union Hill won the final seeding games in Region 3C Sunday, Aug. 11, and now four teams are preparing for the State Class C Amateur Baseball Tournament, which begins Friday, Aug. 16, in Delano and Maple Lake. 

New Market defeated New Prague 3-1 for the top seed and a first-round bye, while Union Hill defeated St. Benedict 3-1 for the No. 3 seed. 

New Market drafted three pitchers from other Region 3C/Dakota-Rice-Scott teams: Josh Simon of St. Patrick, Jake Schmidt of Prior Lake and Alex Fisher of Webster. 

New Prague, the No. 2 seed, pkcked Ben Morrison of Prior Lake, Bill Dunker of St. Patrick and John Krocak of Montgomery. 

Union Hill picked Seth Ambroz of St. Patrick, Evan Knutson of Faribault and Jack Helgeson of Faribault. 

St. Benedict, the No. 4 seed, drafted just one pitcher, Eric Steinhoff of Veseli.

St. Benedict vs. Owatonna Friday, Aug. 16, 5 p.m. at Delano

winner faces Belle Plaine 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Delano

New Prague vs. Springfield Sunday, Aug. 18, noon at Maple Lake

winner faces Plato, 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Delano

Union Hill vs. Fairfax, Sunday, Aug. 18, 5 p.m. at Delano

winner vs. Fergus Falls 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Maple Lake
