Region 3C tournament underway
The Minnesota Baseball Region 3C playoffs began Tuesday, July 30, with two elimination games.
Twelve teams, all from the Dakota-Rice-Scott League, are in Region 3C. Pairings were finalized based on the DRS divisional playoff results.
The first round of playoffs consist of 12 games, two games played over each of six days beginning Tuesday, July 30. The first three games, between playoff series losers, will be elimination games. The winners of those games will enter the first round of the region playoffs, with nine teams playing two games each. Any team losing both of those games will be eliminated, and the rest will continue with play for four spots in the State Amateur Baseball Tournament, which begins August 18 in Maple Lake and Delano.

Elko sweeps Northfield Elko swept its opening best-of-three series in the Section 1B playoffs, defeating Northfield 5-4 Sunday and 5-2 Tuesday. In game 1, Jake Miller had a two-run double in the eight to tie the game at 4-4. TJ Evanson hit a solo homer in the top of the 14th for the win Joel Klinkhammer took the win for the Express, going eight scoreless innings.
The Express won 5-2 Tuesday to advance. They will face Dundas in a best-ofthree series starting Sunday, Aug. 4, at 2 p.m. in Dundas
