Rice County Commissioner-District 5

Jim Brown

was elected to the Rice County board in 2002 to represent the Fifth District. Due to court-ordered redistricting, all board members were required to run for reelection in new districts. District 5 now consists of Wheatland, Webster, Bridgewater and Forest townships, along with the city of Lonsdale and a portion of the city of Northfield.

Brown, an administrator at St. Paul Technical College, is a Lonsdale area resident. He and his wife, Kathy, have a farm just north of the city. They have a 4 1/2-year-old son, Patrick. Brown is involved with the Lonsdale Lions and American Legion Post 586, and is a volunteer for Lonsdale Community Days and Webster Harvest Days. He is also a member of the Wheatland-Twin Lakes Sportsmen's Club and several other outdoor groups.
