Road closed east of New Prague
For the second time this summer, Highway 19 east of New Prague is closed to traffic for road work. After a box culvert project closed the highway for much of July, the road reopened in early August, but is now closed for a project just east of New Prague near the auto dealerships and Scott County Road 89 and Le Sueur County Road 3. Turn lanes and lighting will be added to the intersection, which has seen a growing number of crashes in recent years. The official detour is Highway 21 north to Scott County Road 2, and County Road 2 to Highway 13, then south to 19. The detour is expected to last until some time in October, however the road will be open September 15-17 to accommodate traffic for New Prague’s Dozinky Festival.
