Robert "Bob" Kangas, 64

On November 25, 1948, in Deer River, Bob was born to Matthew and Beulah (Lyons) Kangas.   Bob was born into his heritage on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation in Cass Lake, and became a proud member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.  He grew up with two brothers, Francis and Matthew and four sisters, Cheryl, Mary, Bernadine and Theresa.  
Most of Bob’s career was spent owning and operating a commercial roofing business.  He was blessed with two children, Lea Deanna and Dustin.
At the age of 64 years old, and a resident of both Montgomery and Cass Lake, Minnesota, Bob passed away  Sunday Aug. 18, 2013, and entered God’s arms at Friendship Manor in Shakopee. He had just moved to Shakopee to be close to his daughter. 
Bob will be deeply missed and remembered always by those who loved him, children, Lea Deanna (Eddie) Kangas and their son Gio Granados of Shakopee, and Dustin Kangas and his daughter Gabriella Kangas of Montgomery;  brothers and sisters, Francis (Eileen) Kangas, Cheryl Kangas, Mary (Darren) Briseno, Matthew Kangas, Bernadine (Virgil) Kangas and Theresa Kangas all of Cass Lake;  mother-in-law, Lorraine Cemensky of Waterville,  and other loving relatives and devoted friends.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Beulah Kangas; an infant brother and sister; brother-in-law, Robert Hanson; and father-in-law, Donald Cemensky.
Honorary urn bearers were Ken McGlauchlen, Pat McConnell and Bob’s nephews.
The visitation was held on Thursday Aug. 22, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 833 South Marschall Road in Shakopee, followed by The Celebration of Life Service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are preferred and will be distributed in Bob’s memory by the family.
