Robischon resigns from school board

Trista Robischon became the third member of the New Prague Area School Board to resign in the last seven months. She announced her decision during a school board workshop Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Robischon, who is nearing the end of her first year on the board, told board members that her husband, who had been laid off from his job earlier this year, had accepted a new job in Davenport, IA. Her voice cracking, she said she was disappointed because they had hoped to raise their children in New Prague.

According to state law, the board must appoint a person to fill Robischon's term until the November, 2011, election. At that time a special election will be held to fill the remaining two years of her term. That election is separate from the four four-year terms that are already on the ballot.

The board is expected to act on Robischon's resignation during their December 13 meeting.

Earlier this year, board members Dan Carlson (June) and Bob Reed (October) both resigned. Both cited job conflicts that would keep them from fulfilling their board duties. Sherry Brooks and Tammy Pexa were appointed to the two seats, both of which are up for election in November.
