Roger Prchal, 61

Roger Francis “Fred” Prchal, 61, of New Prague, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at his home.

Fred was born in New Prague on October 8, 1951, a son of Stanley and Lucille (Heberle) Prchal. He attended Montgomery-Lonsdale High School and Mankato State University, where he was a member of the Lamda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Fred married Barbara Kratochvil on July 9, 1977, in New Prague. He was a salesman and served as a gun safety instructor for the Montgomery Sportsman’s Club for 31 years. He was also a member of the New Prague Sportsmen, MN Waterfowl Association and Pheasants Forever. Fred was also a former youth religious education teacher. He loved life, lived it to the fullest, and would always speak his mind.

He is survived by his wife; three children Josephine (Mark) Brinda, Minneapolis, Todd (April) Prchal, Sauk Center, and Jenna Prchal (and Keyon Keys), Minneapolis; four grandchildren McKein Keys, Shamore Brinda, Mathius Brinda and Skyler Prchal; and three brothers Robert (Lou) Prchal, Excelsior, Ronald “Chubby” (Linda) Prchal, Danville, IN, and Ralph (Ann) Prchal, Prior Lake.

He was preceded in death by a grandson Christian Prchal in infancy; and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Denny Dempsey officiating.

Interment is at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Montgomery. Urn bearers are Fred’s three brothers Bob, Chubby and Ralph.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
