Rose Emma Franek, 88, of New Prague, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.
Rose Emma Shimota was born August 20, 1917 in Helena Township. She was married to Benjamin Franek, who preceded her in death in 1996. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by children, Rosie Stepka, Lonsdale, Bernard (Carol), Lonsdale, Ben (Angie), Lonsdale, Ronald (Sue), Webster and Ken (Nancy), New Prague; 20 grandchildren, Keith and Corey Franek, Marcia (Dave) Meling, Tim (Shannon) Stepka, Kurt (Tracy) Stepka, Jenny (friend Andy) Franek, Candy (Tim) Picka, Carrie (Joe) Wiita, Jamie (Nicole) Franek, Joe (fiance Julie) Franek and John (friend Liz) Franek, Jeremy (Aqnieszka), Jason, Kristin, Beth, Jody and Micki Franek, Steve (Lisa) Franek, Kimberly (Marty) Shambour and Chad (fiance Bre) Franek; 18 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Donald, Meghan, Mathew, Brittany, Nolan, Benjamin, Jesse, Thomas, Abigail, Andrew, Nathan, Madison, Alexa, Breanna, Britlynn, Mitchell and Brandon; daughter-in-law, Connie Franek, Veseli; brothers-in-law, Engelhard Schlauderaff and Thomas Schoenbauer; sisters-in-law, Grace Shimota and Martha Schoenbauer.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Eugene and an infant son; a grandson, Jeffrey; and son-in-law, Clarence Stepka.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 7 at 10 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli, with Rev. John Lapensky officiating. Burial was at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Veseli. Pallbearers were Marcia Meling, Kim Shambour, Candy Picka, Carrie Wiita, Kristin, Jody, Beth, Micki and Jenny Franek.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home in Lonsdale, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service.
