School board sets new attendance boundaries

New Prague Area School Board members established attendance boundaries for the district's three elementary schools that will be in operation for the 2005-06 school year. The vote came at the October 13 board meeting.

With two new elementary schools scheduled to open next year, and the current intermediate school housing only sixth grade students next year, students in grades K-5 will attend one of three schools next year.

Students who live in the eastern portion of the district, east of a line that includes Scott County Road 23 and east of a line that follows Highway 19 in Rice County will attend the new elementary school that will be built in New Market.

Students who live west of Highway 19 in Rice County, west of Highway 21 in Scott County, or who live in Le Sueur County, will attend the new elementary school under construction on the west side of New Prague.

The students who live in Scott County east of HIghway 21 and west of Scott County Road 23, will attend the current New Prague Primary School.

The district has also established a policy for inter-district transfers between the schools, and will vote at its next meeting to establish a policy for naming new facilities in the district, including the new school buildings.

Details will be in the October 20 edition of The New Prague Times.
