School district answers questions at open forum

By Chuck Kajer

New Prague Area School hosted the third of four Open Forum presentations on the December 14 school bond referendum Monday, Nov. 22.

About a dozen people, along with several board members, school staff and consultants attended the presentation and many had questions about different portions of the referendum.

Bill Bergevin, a retired teacher, said he believed the biggest stumbling block in the minds of many people in the district is the proposed renovation of the current Intermediate School building.

He also questioned the need for a central registration at the district office, saying that families would prefer to tour the buildings their children would be attending.

Answering the question on central registration first, Superintendent Dr. Frankie Poplau said the district has already gone to a central registration concept, operating out of the district office. It allows us to get the paperwork done and the kids into the buildings as soon as possible
