School, police say no threat made
New Prague Area Schools and New Prague police investigated a possible threat made by a student Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 9.
Superintendent Tim Dittberner said school staff and the school's police resource officer investigated a possible threat made by a student at the Alternative Learning Center.
"The police investigated and questioned the student, in the end, they determined that there was no threat, that a comment made by a student had been taken out of context," Dittberner said.
New Prague police chief Jim Gareis said that in questioning the student, they determined that the context of the discussion was about a video game, and there was no threat made.
Following the investigation, an email was sent to parents at both the ALC and the high school advising parents that there was no risk to students.
High School Principal Lonnie Seifert and School Resource Officer John Madigan met with students at the ALC Wednesday morning to discuss the incident.
