School projects on display at Open House

New Prague Area Schools had the opportunity to showcase two major building projects Sunday, Oct. 8, as they held an open house for the Central Education Campus and New Prague Middle School buildings.

The sun was shining as approximately 200 people were on hand for a short ceremony that kicked off the day. The eighth grade band from New Prague Middle School was on hand and played musical selections prior to and during the program. Students Anna Lundeen-Detisch and Kate Wagner sang the national anthem.

Tony Buthe, the district’s Director of Educational Services, welcomed everyone and introduced Superintendent Tim Dittberner.

Dittberner said the process that led to this moment actually began during the superintendent search when he was hired in 2013. “A survey of district residents was done to find out what the top concerns were, and the number one challenge that was identified was facilities,” he said. After he was hired, the board formed a Facilities Task Force consisting of 32 community members. They held a series of meetings, looking for opinions, analyzing the state of the district buildings and the needs.
