Scripture to be inducted into New Prague HS Athletic Hall of Fame
Former New Prague High School Activities Director Bob Scripture will be inducted into the New Prague High School Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies at the s c h o o l ’ s Homecoming Football game Friday, Sept. 23.
Scripture came to New Prague in 1977 as a teacher and became Activities Director in 1981, a position he held for 27 years. During his tenure, he also served as a coach in several sports, was community education director, head coach in girls tennis and girls track and field, served as Pep Club advisor and was Dean of Students.
While activities director, New Prague won state championships in football, gymnastics and girls basketball. The school also saw growth in the many programs the school offered. The New Prague High School Hall of Fame was established in 1999 and includes three different categories. Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service honorees are recognized at the school’s Evening of Excellence in May. Athletic honorees are recognized at the school’s Homecoming football game.
Scripture retired in 2008. In 2015 he and his wife Pat moved to Rochester, where one of their sons is a principal in the Rochester Public Schools.
