Semi hits utility box, causes power outage
A semi-truck hit the Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC) utility box at the intersection of New Prague’s Main Street and Alton Avenue the afternoon of Monday, Feb. 12, causing a power outage on the east side of town. Crews from New Prague Utilities and MVEC were on hand shortly after the crash. According to MVEC’s Facebook page crews had switched most of their affected members' power to an alternate substation as of 2:30 p.m., although 26 members along Autumn Avenue SE, Summer Avenue SE and Eastland Avenue will remain out until replacement of the utility box.
