Silas S. Kung, 82
Silas S. Kung, age 82, of Waterville died on Friday, April 8, 2016, at Pleasant Manor in Faribault.
Born on November 11, 1933, in Hong Kong, Silas moved to St. Johns, Newfoundland, in the early 1970s where he received his doctorate degree. He worked in the electronics field in San Francisco and Houston before settling in Minnesota in the 1990s. Silas was the co-founder of KG Technologies, where he pursued his passion of photonics and fiber optics.
He is survived by his adoptive family, brothers, Bill and Violet Ping, Curt and Darlene Ping, and Jim and Sheila Ping; sister, Michelle and Scott Bart and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by dear family friends, Nancy and Steve McDermott and their children, Nathan, Katie, Michael, Stephen and Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, William and Ethel Ping and brother, Bruce Ping.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville. Visitation was held on Monday, one hour before services at the church. Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services of Waterville handled the arrangements.
