Silverius Becker, 84
Silverius Becker, 84, of New Prague, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at his home.
Silverius was born June 20, 1928, in Faribault, a son of Alphonse and C a t h e r i n e (Huss) Becker. He attended Le Sueur County District School at Union Hill and New Prague High School. He married Cecilia K. Stelten on June 19, 1954, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska. The couple made their home on a farm near Cedar Lake, where Silverius was a dairy farmer. He was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed being with his family, the outdoors, playing cards, working with animals, and following the Minnesota Twins.
He is survived by his wife; children Mary Becker (special friend Tom Rice), Eden Prairie, Jim (Jean) Becker, New Prague, Kathy (Curt) Mages, Hastings, and Dave (Peggy) Becker, Osseo; grandchildren Kelsey, Kyle and Maggee Becker, Kristen, Suzanne and Michelle Mages, Joseph (Jessica), Jonathan, Michala, Melody, Benjamin, Jesse, Joshua, Jeremiah, Justin and Jedidiah Becker; great-grandchild Matthew Becker; a sister Sister Jean Becker, Campbellsport, WI; sisters-in-law Jeanette Becker, New Prague, and Clara Stelten, Chaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Susan Becker; siblings Ambrose Becker and Sister Eunice Becker.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Patrick, with Rev. Orlando Tatel officiating.
Interment was at St. Patrick Cemetery. Casketbearers were grandchildren Kelsey, Kyle, and Maggee Becker, Kristen, Suzanne and Michelle Mages, Joseph, Jonathan and Michala Becker.
Visitation was held Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
