A simple resolution

As 2016 begins, it’s time for a few New Year’s Resolutions.

Resolutions have become a cliche. Everyone makes them; few people - this writer included - seem to be able to follow through with those resolutions with any consistency.

Many people have resolutions based on physical fitness. People want to lose weight, they want to exercise more, they want to eat foods that are good for them and cut down on things that are not good for them, such as caffeine, alcohol, fried foods, and tobacco.

Organization is also a common resolution. People want to get more organized, not let their homes or offices get too cluttered. Get rid of old junk, stop collecting things that just pick up dust, clean up each day, get rid of old papers.

A third common type of resolution involves money. People want to save more, spend less, stop spending on foolish things. They want to look to the future and save money so they can buy a new car, a new home, or take a vacation.

Whatever your area of concern, we wish all our readers well in keeping their resolutions. We want our readers to be in good physical shape, well-organized and financially well off. Heck, we want that for ourselves too.

But we’re not going to make any such resolution. We’re going to keep things simple:

The staff of The New Prague Times resolves to continue to be the best source of news and information for New Prague and surrounding communities, and to improve our efforts to keep our readers informed on local events and issues.

In short, we’re going to keep doing what we’ve been doing for 127 years. Our resolve is to do a better job of it, in order to better serve our readers.
