Softball team wins 3 games

The New Prague Trojan softball team won three games last week, including a Missota Conference contest at Red Wing. The Trojans (3-4, 1-2 Missota) went 1-2 to take seventh place at the Mankato West Invitational.

New Prague was scheduled to face Chanhassen Tuesday, April 17. They play at Farmington Thursday, April 19, host Willmar Friday, April 20, and play at Faribault Saturday, April 21. New Prague hosts Northfield Monday, April 23, then plays Holy Angels at Lincoln Field in Richfield Wednesday, April 25.

Sabers 20, Trojans 10

Shakopee scored in every inning in a six-inning, 20-10 win over the Trojans Monday, April 9.

New Prague led 5-3 after scoring five runs in the top of the second inning, but the Sabers got the lead back for good with three in the bottom of the inning.

Kelsey McFarland swatted three hits, including a solo home run in the fourth to lead the Trojans. She also had four RBIs. Ashley Hoffman had two hits, while Amber Hoffman, Jordan Tuma, Megan Dyslin, Lindsey Sindelir and Jill Malecha had one each.

Pitcher Amber Hoffman started and took the loss for the Trojans.

Trojans 7, Blazers 1

New Prague scored twice in the fourth and four times in the fifth to claim a 7-1 non-conference win over Visitation Wednesday, April 11.

McFarland had three hits, including a triple, and stole three bases. Amber Hoffman, and Ashley Hoffman had two hits each, and Ali Jo Hoffman, Jordan Tuma, Bissell, Sindelir and Katie Morris had one each.

Amber Hoffman got the win, allowing four hits and striking out three in six innings. Brit Reed pitched the final inning.

Trojans 5, Wingers 3

New Prague picked up their first Missota Conference win, 5-3 at Red Wing Thursday, April 12.

Trailing 3-1, the Trojans tied it with two in the fourth and scored one each in the fifth and sixth to claim the victory. The winning run scored in the fifth without the aid of a hit. Sarah Hoffman walked, advanced to second on a groundout and scored when Amber Hoffman reached on an error.

Amber Hoffman had two hits, while Ali Jo Hoffman, Dyslin, Bissell and Sindelir had one each.

Amber Hoffman pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits while striking out eight.

Scarlets 4, Trojans 1

New Prague took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but that would be all they got as Mankato West defeated the Trojans 4-1 in the first round of the Mankato West Invitational at Caswell Park in North Mankato Saturday, April 14.

Dyslin and Amber Hoffman belted back-to-back doubles to bring in the lone Trojan run. Amber Hoffman had two hits, with Dyslin and Jordan Tuma getting the only other hits for New Prague.

Amber Hoffman pitched a solid game, allowing just four runs, three of them earned, and seven hits.

Blaze 13, Trojans 0

An eight-run third inning proved the Trojans' undoing in a 13-0 loss to Burnsville in the second round at Mankato.

Trojan hits were from Dyslin, Tuma, Ashley Hoffman and Bissell.

Brit Reed started and took the loss, with Nicole Reed pitching 1-1/3 innings of relief.

Trojans 21, JayHawks 1

After scoring just one run in two games, the Trojans took out their frustrations against an over-matched Madelia/Truman team, scoring 21 runs on 25 hits in five innings in a 21-1 win in the final round at Mankato.

The Trojans put up six runs in the first and scored in all five innings.

Brit Reed, Tuma and Ashley Hoffman each had four hits for New Prague. Kayley Breyer, Sarah Hoffman, Bissell, Malecha and Morris had two each and Dyslin, Amber Hoffman and Kat Illies had one.

The Trojans pulled most of their starters early in this game, giving their bench a chance to log innings and at-bats.

Amber Hoffman pitched the first inning, and was followed by Brit Reed, Nicole Reed and Ashley Hoffman. Ashley Hoffman was credited with the win, striking out five of the six batters she faced.
