Stanley Simon, 88

Stanley F. Simon, 88, of New Prague, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, in Brainerd.

Stan was born on June 22, 1921, at Veseli, a son of Joseph J. and Emma (Ceplecha) Simon. A lifelong resident of the Veseli/New Prague area, he attended the Veseli Catholic School. Stan married Adeline Schultz on November 22, 1953, at St. Joseph's Church in Moorhead. He was a businessman, serving as the manager for Anthony's Dept. Store in Moorhead and New Prague, and owning and operating Tri-County Beverage in New Prague. He was a member of the Catholic Workman and New Prague Sportsmen.

He is survived by his wife; children Barb Simon, Brainerd, Bruce Simon, Lonsdale and Annie (Stuart Butch) Sirek, Lonsdale; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother Alois Simon, Veseli.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Edward J. Simon Sr., Joseph T. Simon and Helen Uhlir.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.

Interment will be at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers will be Cole Sirek, Jacob Sirek, Butch Sirek, Myron Simon, Bill Sticha, Bruce Simon and Alois Simon.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
