Steven Worm

Steven F. Worm, 62, of Waconia passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016, at his home in Waconia.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday July 12, 2016, at 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia with Father Bennet Tran as Celebrant of the Mass. A gathering of family and friends was held from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. Interment was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Steven was born on February 15, 1954, in Shakopee, the son of Donald and Ann (Schlechter) Worm. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia.

Steve loved life. He immersed himself in the community through family, friends, work and sports. Each person who met him was graced with his energetic personality and remarkable laugh.

He devoted his time to watching his two daughters grow-up and flourish. His youthful personality lead him to be the most wonderful Papa to his granddaughter, Grace. Hours were spent with her reading, tenting, fishing and just being a kid.

His love for the outdoors often took him to the lake in search of that illusive “catch." Time not spent on the lake was consumed by sports. Steve engrossed himself in the game of softball by playing on various teams and coaching his daughters' teams. His sheer enjoyment of the game was evident to all who he competed against.

Through a selfless commitment to helping others, Steve made a lasting impression on everyone. His needs came second to those of others. All anyone needed to do was ask, and he would be there, ready to help.  Although his laughter now may only be heard in heaven, his incredible legacy will live on through family and friends.

Steven was preceded in death parents Donald and Ann Worm.

Steven is survived by his loving family: daughters Jaclyn (Bill) Pieper of New Prague and Rachel Worm of Waconia; granddaughter Grace Pieper; brothers Mark (Debbie) Worm of Montgomery, Richard (Mary) Hilgers of Shorewood, Gerald “Jerry” (Ruth) Hilgers of Victoria; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Honorary Urn Bearers were Aaron Worm, Nicholas Worm, Matt Hilgers, Kevin Hilgers, Peter Pfeffer, Dave Karp, Philip Worm, Ryan Worm, James Hilgers, Michael Hilgers, and John Hilgers.
