Swimmers sunk by Northfield
The New Prague Trojan girls swimming and diving team hosted Northfield Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Montgomery pool. The visiting Gators defeated the Trojans 99-79.
Varsity highlights for the Trojans included:
First place: Cassy Panka (200 freestyle, 2 minutes, 3.98 seconds, 500 freestyle 5:31.2), Mikayla Beuch (100 freestyle, 0:58.95), Kallie Grams (100 backstroke, 1:29.73), Carly Ploumen (100 Breaststroke, 1:29.25) and the 400 Freestyle Relay (Panka, Ploumen, Beuch and Dani Barten, 4:11.50).
Second place: Sophie Vilensky (100 backstroke), Sydney Anderson (100 breaststroke) and the 400 Freestyle Relay (Kacey Cole, Jackie Dols, Lindsey Reinke and MaKayla Kurkowski)
Third place: 200 Medley Relay: (Barten, Ploumen, Panka, Beuch), Ploumen (200 Individual Medley), Beuch (50 Freestyle) 200 Freestyle Relay (Meghan McLaughlin, Vilensky, Reinke, Kurkowski), Barten (100 Backstroke) and Dols (100 Breaststroke)
Northfield won the JV meet, 135-47.
New Prague faces Chaska Thursday, Sept. 16, at the Chaska Middle School East pool starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 18, they compete at the Prior Lake Invitational at Hidden Oaks Middle School, with diving at 9 a.m. and swimming at noon.
