TCU Building Bond Referendum is Tuesday

Tri-City United school district residents will vote on Tuesday, May 24, on an $18.69 million building bond referendum that will provide safety, security and building upgrades for each TCU school in Montgomery, Lonsdale and Le Center.

If passed, overcrowding at TCU H.S. would be alleviated by adding five classrooms and two labs, and an 700-seat auditorium that could also be partially used as classroom space. Classrooms would also be added to TCU Lonsdale, which would then keep fifth and sixth graders in that building and ease overcrowding of the TCU Montgomery Middle School.

Renovations at TCU Le Center would provide a safe and secured entrance and controlled access to the building. Maintenance needs on that campus would be addressed with a new HVAC system and roof replacement over classrooms.

Safety would also be addressed at TCU Montgomery with a secure entrance for pre-schoolers.

The bond is for $18.69 million to be paid off in 20 years.
