TCU hires Lonsdale Elementary Principal, curriculum director

The Tri-City United School Board hired a Lonsdale Principal and Curriculum Director at a short meeting on Monday, Aug. 5.

According to TCU Superinten-dent Teri Preisler, the board unanimously hired Sarah Klitzke of Waconia to replace Melissa Barnett, who took a job as the elementary principal for the Jordan School District.

Preisler said Klitzke is a perfect fit for the Lonsdale Elementary School and the TCU District. Klitzke comes to TCU after working at Westonka Public Schools. She has experience in K-12 curriculum, and teaching grades kindergarten, one and three, and Title One students. Preisler added that she has also done some administrative work over the summer for the district.

“Throughout the interview process, Sarah was a candidate who stood out and was a solid fit for Lonsdale, the community and the school district,” Preisler said. “Sarah has a nice array of experience, and she’s excited and eager to get started.”

Klitzke started her position with TCU on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

The hiring process included interviews with two committees that included parents, teachers, administrators, school board members and Preisler. Preisler said there were five semi-finalists and two finalists.
