Teachers work to improve math teaching skills

Raven Stream Elementary Principal Pat Pribyl and teacher Tim Ledwein gave a presentation to the New Prague Area School Board Monday on the school's participation in the math and Science Academy, a program to develop bolster instruction in those areas.

Ledwein, who is the facilitator for the program at the school, explained that the teaching staff in grade three through five have attended workshops and meet weekly. The focus is on algebra and in seeing relationships and thinking rationally.

Staff is working on different strategies and is measuring results on student achievements. The school received a grant for participation in the program
