Tennis team drops first two matches
The New Prague Trojan boys tennis team started its season with a pair of matches last week. The Trojans lost 4-3 to Faribault on Friday, April 7, then lost 5-2 to Albert Lea on Monday, April 10.
The Trojans were scheduled to face Waseca Tuesday. On Monday, they travel to Mankato East and they open their conference season Tuesday, April 18, at Holy Angels. On Thursday, April 20, they host Farmington.

New Prague swept the doubles competition, but failed to win a singles match as they dropped their opener.
The team of Andy Kubes and Marty DeValk won their match at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 6-2. Matt Gillen and Patrick Jeffrey took the No. 2 doubles match, 6-0, 6-0, while David McCollister and Sam Dresow won their match at No. 3 doubles, 6-0, 6-0.
In singles, John Cilibrasi, josh Meuwissen, Ben Dresow and PJ Smisek all lost their matches. Meuwissen and Smisek forced their opponents to a third set before losing.
Tigers 5, Trojans 2
New Prague lost a 5-2 decision to Albert Lea Monday at the Trojan courts.
The Trojans got wins from Gillen and Jeffrey at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, 6-3, while Dan Coons won at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8).
The Kubes/DeValk team and the McCollister/Sam Dresow team lost in doubles, while Cilibrasi, Meuwissen and Ben Dresow lost in singles.
