Thomas “Tom” Lee Green, age 75
Thomas “Tom” Lee Green, age 75, of Sebeka, MN, formerly of New Prague, died at his home on Thursday, March 2, 2017, after a courageous battle with a long-term disease.
Tom was born in Olwein, IA on September 13, 1941, to Howard and Arlene (Barton) Green. Tom married Marcia Joan Chadwick on September 13, 1980, in Mound, MN. As a young man, he was a postal clerk for the railway. During this time, he lived/worked in every state west of the Mississippi, before settling down in Minnesota.
In his thirties, he was a coin counter in the vault for a vending machine company. He was really good at math, which made this job enjoyable. His final job, Tom was in the activities department for Mala Strana Nursing Home. He loved spending time with the residents, talking, laughing, and praying with them.
Tom was very proud to say that he designed and built the house in New Prague, where he and Marcia lived until they retired in 2014. Whether sitting at the kitchen table in his house in New Prague, or lounging on the couch in someone else’s living room, he thoroughly enjoyed all the family, friends, and pets that came through his life.
Tom always enjoyed sports. He participated in wrestling in high school and college. As an adult, he loved watching sports, mainly cheering for teams like the Vikings, the Twins, and the Gophers.
He attended and served in his local church for almost 20 years. He loved praise and worship, and was always looking to learn more about God and His Word.
Tom is survived by his wife, Marcia; son, Jeff (Cheryl) Hayes; daughters, Jackie Hayes (Mathew Metteer) & Sarah (Andrew) Lemeron; grandchildren, Bryan (Gina) Hayes and their 3 children, Brittany (Austin) Young and their 3 children, Tyler Sonenstahl, Kristin Schoenbauer, Richard Schoenbauer, Alex Hayes, Bailee Dillman; brothers, Larry Green, Lynn “Skip” Green; sisters, Sheryl Kirby, Valerie Beausoliel; many nieces, nephews, and greatgrandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonnie Green.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 3:00 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Chaplain Merv Lemeron officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service.
