Titans storm past the Tigers

The Tri-City United Titan Football team served up the #1 ranked Belle Plaine Tigers their only loss on the season Wednesday with a score of 25-13.

Tri-City United   12  0  7  6 = 25

Belle Plaine        0   6  0  7 = 13

The win, however, didn't come easily. In the fourth quarter, with a score of TCU 19 and Belle Plaine 13, the Titans looked to lose the lead they had for the entire game when the Tigers had possession on the 19 yard-line and were moving to Titan terrority with five minutes left of the game. But an 8-yard pass to Tiger Derek Dahlke was intercepted by TItan Pat Lloyd and turned around the game's momentum. The next play helped the Titans move the chains when Ted Christian's 15-yard pass found Lloyd, who then, in the next play, carried it 35 yards. The momentum kept the Titans moving when running back John Christian carried it another 12 yards. A couple more plays with a minute left in the game lead to a touchdown, and the Titans sealed their win.

The win for TCU puts them in a three-way tie for the Minnesota River Conference Championship with Watertown-Mayer and Belle Plaine, all with 6-1 conference records (7-1 overall).

In the start of playoffs, the Titans will play their first game on Tuesday, Oct. 22 in Montgomery. Watch this website for details once the 1AAA brackets are finalized. For a complete write-up of this game, including the players' stats, pick up a October 24 Montgomery Messenger.
