Trojan boys start season 0-3

The New Prague Trojan boys soccer team opened its season with a pair of close losses last week, before losing a one-sided match to Farmington Monday, Aug. 29.

The Trojans return to action Thursday, Sept. 1, when they open their Wright County Conference schedule at Waconia. On Tuesday, Sept. 6, they play at Mankato West, then return home to face Mayer Lutheran on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Cougars 2, Trojans 1 New Prague opened its season at Section 1AA foe Lakeville South Friday, Aug. 26, losing to the host Cougars 2-1.

"South was the No. 5 seed in the section last season, so it was a good middle-of-theroad test for us," Coach Jon Hopke said.

South dominated the first half with their possession and shots on goal, with the Trojans getting a few chances on counter attacks, but the match was scoreless at halftime.

South scored in the sixth minute of the second half, but the Trojan regrouped and began to play more organized. They made it 2-0 with a goal in the 19th minute.

The Trojans got on the board in the 25th minute, with Zach Morris getting the ball to Andy Sibenaller, who converted for a goal to make it 21.
