Trojan girls continue to run well

The New Prague Trojan girls track team continued to see success as they defeated four teams in a five-team meet at Hutchinson and placed second at the Orono Invitational last week.

The Trojans competed at the Section 1AAATrue Team meet at Lakeville North Tuesday, May 10. New Prague finished in third place, behind Lakeville South and Lakeville North. Details will be in the May 19 edition of The Times.

The Trojans will host the Wright County Conference East Championships Tuesday, May 17. They will travel to a quad meet at Orono on Thursday, May 19, and host the New Prague Invitational on Tuesday, May 24.

At Hutchinson New Prague had seven first place finishes on their way to first place at a Wright County Conference meet at Hutchinson Tuesday, May 3.

New Prague had 127.6 points, with Hutchinson second at 84, Litchfield with 69, Annandale 62.3 and Rockford 33.

First place finishes for the Trojans came from Delaney McLoone in the 100 meters (12.3 seconds), Josie Herrmann in the 400 (1:01.2), Maria Berg in the 1,600 (5:21.1), Ashley Shimek in the 100 hurdles (16.2), Randi Allar in the pole vault (8 feet, 6 inches), and the 4x200 relay team (1:52.6) and the 4x400 relay (4:15.3). Relay team members were not available.

Taking second for the Trojans were Serena Thomas in the 200, Tasha Bennett in the 1,600, Lexi Isaacson in the long jump and the 4x100 and 4x800 relays.

Third place for New Prague included Allar in the 100, Ashley Shimek in the 200, Kate Chromy in the 800, Libby Midtvedt in the 3,200, Alyssa Dvorak in the 300 hurdles, Mikayla Breiner in the long jump and Emma Anderson in the triple jump.

Two fourth place finishes for the Trojans came from Ally Shorter in the pole vault and Kaylynn Solheid in the triple jump.

Taking fifth for New Prague was Emma Sickmann in the 400.

At Orono New Prague finished second in an eight-team field at Orono Thursday, May 5.

Waconia won the meet with a 184.16, followed by New Prague (145.66), Orono (128.33) Edina (58), St. Louis Park (56.66), Delano (48) Marshall (46), and Southwest Christian (33.16).

The Trojans had three firstplace finishes, from Breiner in the triple jump (33-9), Herrmann in the 400 (1:00.46) and the 4x800 relay team of Catie Skaja, Chromy, Herrmann and Bennett (9:52.45).

Taking second for the Trojans were Aidan McLoone in the triple jump, Allar in the pole vault and Ashley Shimek in the 100 hurdles.
