Trojan girls drop pair of games
New Prague High School’s girls basketball team lost two games last week, falling to Lakeville South and Orono.
The Trojans played at Le Sueur-Henderson on Tuesday, Dec. 13, and are scheduled to travel to Waseca on Friday, Dec. 16. They return home for a pair of games next week, against Mound-Westonka on Tuesday, Dec. 20, and Simley on Thursday, Dec. 22.
Cougars 51, Trojans 45
New Prague dropped a 6-point decision to Lakeville South on the Cougar’s home court Tuesday, Dec. 6.
The game was close throughout, but the Cougars’ height advantage—they had three players over 6-feet tall—gave the Trojans problems on the inside.
Lakeville led 25-23 at the half. New Prague had no players in double figures in the contest. Leading scorer for the Trojans was Mandy Haecherl, who netted nine, with a pair of three-pointers and three of three from the free throw line. Katelyn Meger and Whitney Trecker added eight points each for the Trojans, who were in foul trouble most of the night. Trecker and Camille Kratochvil fouled out and Becky Theisen finished with four fouls.

The taller Spartans packed in a tight zone defense, and the Trojans tried shooting over it, without much success.
