Trojan girls hockey team wins 9-1
The New Prague Trojan girls hockey team opened the Section 1A playoffs with a convincing 9-1 win over Faribault Wednesday in New Prague.
Fans had barely settled in their seats when New Prague's Kasey Marquardt scored just 49 seconds into the contest. Lindsay Paschke scored just 19 seconds later and Brittany Sticha scored a power play goal 33 seconds after that, and New Prague led 3-0 with less than two minutes gone. Paschke finished with four goals and an assist.
New Prague will host Northfield Saturday, Feb. 9. The Raiders defeated Austin 8-2 in their quarterfinal game. In the other bracket Waseca defeated Albert Lea 2-0 and will travel to No. 1 seed Red Wing Saturday.
The Section championship game will be played at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Owatonna.
