Trojan girls top Giants, lose to Bluejays
New Prague’s girls basketball team broke out of a scoring slump in a big way, lighting up the Henderson gym for 82 points in a non-conference win over Le Sueur-Henderson Tuesday, Dec. 13. On Friday, the Trojans lost to Waseca 74-63.
New Prague was scheduled to face Mound-Westonka Tuesday, and will host Simley Thursday, Dec. 22. They will then have off for the holidays, returning to the court Tuesday, Jan. 3, when they host Waconia.
Trojans 82, Giants 50
New Prague dominated this game, outscoring the Giants 42-39 in the first half on their way to a convincing win over Le Sueur-Henderson.
The Trojans had 20 first-half points from junior Whitney Trecker as she paced the Trojans to their big lead. Trecker ended with a game-high 25 points. Mandy Haecherl had 13 points for the Trojans and Katelyn Meger added 11. The Trojans used 18 players, and 11 of them made it into the scoring column.

Bluejays 74, Trojans 63
New Prague led 32-25 at halftime, but the Bluejays came out soaring in the second half, outscoring the Trojans 49-31 and taking a 74-63 win. The Trojans were plagued by foul trouble, as three of their starters fouled out of the contest.
Trecker led the Trojans with 20 points before fouling out. Haecherl had 14 and also fouled out, and Meger had 11.
