Trojan girls top Tigers, 5-2

New Prague's girls hockey team registered a 5-2 win over Farmington Thursday, Dec. 14, to remain unbeaten in the Missota Conference.

The Trojans (5-3-2) were scheduled to face Red Wing Tuesday, Dec. 19, and Prior Lake on Thursday, Dec. 21, before taking a break for the holidays. They will resume action Friday, Dec. 29, when they face Eden Prairie, the top-ranked team in Class AA, at 3 p.m. in the South St. Paul Kaposia Classic.

Trojans 5, Tigers 2

New Prague registered its first win ever at the Farmington Arena with a 5-2 victory.

Courtney Sivula and Jenna Kilpatrick scored a pair of second period goals to give the Trojans the lead for good. The game had been tied at 1-1 after the first period.

Jenna Kilpatrick scored the opening goal, assisted by Breanna Bisek. Farmington's Erin Johnson tied it late in the period.

Kilpatrick and Kacy Ambroz set up Sivula's goal, at 5:19 of the second. Kilpatrick's second goal was on a power play at 15:33 of the second, with assists to Breanne Hrabe and Ambroz.

The Tigers pulled to within a goal at 3-2 early in the third, but the Trojans scored a pair of empty net goals in the final minute, with Kilpatrick and Ambroz finding the net, to ice the win.

New Prague outshot the Tigers 31-16. Daedra Culshaw got the win in net, making 14 of 16 saves.
