Trojan skaters bounce back from loss with win over Tigers

The New Prague/Montgomery-Lonsdale boys hockey team played two Missota Conference games last week, losing to No. 1-ranked Holy Angels 6-1 and then coming back to defeat Hutchinson 5-1.

The Trojans (10-3-0, 3-1-0 Missota) were scheduled to face New Ulm Tuesday evening. They will be busy in the coming week, as they travel to Farmington for a game at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18. They host Prior Lake at 4 p.m. Saturday in a makeup game, then host Red Wing on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.

Stars 6, Trojans 1

New Prague was no match for the No.-1 ranked team in Class AA, but that didn't mean the Trojans didn't give it a good effort. New Prague players skated hard and played aggressively until the final buzzer sounded.

Holy Angels took a 3-0 lead in the first period and extended it to 5-0 after two.

Seth Ambroz got New Prague's lone goal on a power play at 6:59 of the third period. The eighth-grader grabbed a loose puck about 15 feet from the net and flipped it past the Stars' goalie, making the score 5-1. Holy Angels would get one more goal to make the final 6-1.

Brandon Palma stopped 36 of 42 shots for the Trojans.
